Compostable with Clear films

At Biopouches, we offer a variety options of compostable materials. And compostable transparent materials are a remarkable innovation in the realm of sustainable packaging, offering an eco-friendly alternative while maintaining the see-through advantage that many consumers and businesses prefer.


Several materials contribute to the construction of these compostable clear bags. PLA (Polylactic Acid), NK (a clear, home compostable material), PBS (Polybutylene Succinate), and PBAT (Polybutylene Adipate Terephthalate) all play critical roles in ensuring the bags are compostable and fulfill their protective duties.


PLA and PBAT, both derived from renewable resources, are industrial compostable materials. When these bags have served their purpose, they can be processed in industrial composting facilities, where they'll break down into water, carbon dioxide, and biomass, all of which can be used to enrich the soil. This results in a significantly reduced environmental impact compared to traditional plastic bags.


NK and PBS, on the other hand, are home compostable materials. This means that consumers can compost these bags right in their backyard compost bins or piles, where they'll degrade over time, contributing valuable nutrients to the compost.


The construction of these bags typically involves a printing layer and a sealant layer. The printing layer, made from either PLA or NK, carries the visual and branding elements of the packaging. Despite being printed, this layer maintains its compostability, ensuring the entire bag can be composted.


The sealant layer, made from either PBAT or PBS, provides the bag with its integrity and protective properties. It's this layer that allows the bag to be sealed, keeping the product inside fresh and secure.


In essence, compostable transparent bags offer the best of both worlds. They provide the visual appeal and practicality of traditional clear bags, with the significant advantage of being compostable, either at home or in an industrial facility. This innovative use of materials like PLA, NK, PBS, and PBAT showcases the potential of sustainable packaging, offering an effective solution that aligns with the growing demand for environmentally friendly products.
