Coffee is the most unforgiving product to package. Get the barrier wrong and stales hit within weeks. Skip the valve and CO₂ builds up and bloats the bag. Our stand up coffee bags are built around a
one-way degassing valve as standard — CO₂ out, oxygen never in. Barrier film is specified per your roast type and target shelf life, not just grabbed off a shelf. What is the difference between a stand up pouch and a flat bottom pouch?
A stand up pouch has a curved gusset base — it stands but can lean or tip on uneven surfaces, and gives you three main print panels. A flat bottom pouch has a structured rectangular base that sits completely stable with five printable panels. Stand up pouches are the more cost-effective choice for most products. What is the minimum order quantity for custom stand up pouches?
500 units for digital printing with soy-based ink — no plate cost, multiple designs can run in the same order. From 3,000 units for gravure printing up to 10 colours with Pantone-accurate colour matching. For brands between those volumes, digital print is the right route until order size justifies gravure plate investment.
Do your stand up pouches have a degassing valve option for coffee?
Yes. A one-way degassing valve is available on all our stand up coffee bags and can be added to any format on request. The valve lets CO₂ from freshly roasted beans exit the bag while blocking oxygen from entering — without it, roasted coffee either bloats the bag or you have to wait days before packing, both of which compromise flavour. Our stand up coffee bag comes with this as standard.
What certifications do your stand up pouches hold?
Our compostable stand up pouches are certified to EN 13432, ASTM D6400, BPI, DIN CERTCO and OK Compost. Recyclable options are TÜV and FSC certified. All formats carry ISO certification covering food safety and production quality. These are independently verified certifications held by BioPouches — available to share with your retail buyers or sustainability audit team.
Can I order stand up pouches in multiple sizes in the same run?
Yes, with digital printing. Because there are no plate costs, you can order different sizes and different designs in the same production run — useful if you sell the same product in 100g, 250g and 500g formats, or have multiple SKUs going to market simultaneously. Minimum per design/size is 500 units on the digital line.
What closures are available on stand up pouches?
Resealable zipper — the most common, suitable for coffee, snacks, pet food and supplements. Zip lock — press-to-close variant, slightly lower profile than a full zipper. How long does production take?
Digital print orders typically ship in 15–20 days from artwork approval. Gravure orders run 20–28 days depending on volume and material. Lead time starts from artwork sign-off, not from enquiry, so having print-ready files ready shortens the process considerably.
