Our compostable flat bottom coffee bag has a flat base, side gussets and a resealable zipper, and we print your design on it. It stands up well on a shelf, and your customers can close it again after opening. It doesn't come with a degassing valve, so if you pack coffee straight after roasting, tell us and we'll talk it through.

Why Coffee Brands Use This Bag

When you fill it, the side gussets open out and the base sits flat, so the bag stands straight and keeps a neat, boxy shape. You get the front, the back and both sides for your design. The top opens wide, which makes filling easier.

The zipper is for your customer. They open the bag, scoop out what they need and close it again. It keeps things tidy between uses, but it isn't airtight. The heat seal at the top and the film itself do the real protecting.

Keeping Your Coffee Fresh

Coffee goes stale when air and moisture get in, and light doesn't help. How much protection you need depends on your coffee, whether it's beans or ground, and how long it sits before someone drinks it. Compostable films usually don't block air as well as foil, so we pick the film to match how long your coffee has to last. We'd rather tell you that now than after you've filled ten thousand bags.

How We Make It

It starts with the film. We prepare it and print your design on it by gravure. If your bag needs more than one layer, we laminate the layers together after printing. Then we check the printed film for color, alignment and marks before it goes to the bag-making machine.

On the machine, we cut and fold the film to form the flat base and side gussets, fit the zipper and heat seal the bag. Compostable film is fussier to seal than regular plastic film because the range of heat that works is smaller. So we set the temperature, pressure and seal time for your material, and we watch the seal around the zipper closely. At the end, we check the finished bags for size, shape, seals and how the zipper opens and closes. Every step at the BIOPOUCHES factory follows our SOPs.

Testing in Our Lab

Our lab has a heat-seal tester, a tensile tester, a leak tester, a friction tester and lab ovens. We use them to find the right seal settings for a material, measure how strong the seals are, look for leaks and see how the film runs through machines. Which tests we run depends on your material and bag. We don't post lab numbers here, but ask us about testing for your order. Printing Your Design

Your design wraps around four sides, so we line the print up with the folds. That way nothing important ends up on a fold or inside a seal. Keep barcodes and small text on the flat parts of the bag. We can talk about matte or other finishes, as long as they work with the compostable film. Soy-based ink is available too, but it doesn't make a bag compostable by itself.
